Ok, so we’re off again! This time we thought we’d let friends tag along on our travels to Uluru again and up to Alice Springs! Good friends, so it makes the trip even more enjoyable.
So we decided we would head out Saturday, but because it rained so freakin’ hard Thursday n Friday our friend Dave couldn’t work, so at the last minute we decided to leave on the Friday afternoon, sending Kork into an absolute tail spin! But, as usual, to her credit, she pulled it together and we set off at about 1300hrs Friday afternoon.
We met Dave, Catherine and the kids at the Ballan Maccas, as you do, in absolute pouring rain and started our epic journey west, first stop – Mt Barker, SA, just east of Adelaide in the hills. Make it by dark for a countery at the pub I said! No worries! Yeah, right! 2300 we pulled in to an absolutely shutdown, dark and dormant caravan park!
Have you tried setting up a van with 4 feral kids and doing it quietly in the middle of the night?! (I know some of you have!) hard Yakka! Not sure who was louder, the kids or us yelling at the kids to shuddup! We only woke one neighbor and he wasn’t too bad about it all! So no problemo.
Next! Korks got no jamys (PJ’s people’s, keep up!) doesn’t worry me (hehe) but geeze is it cold here at night! Anyway we survived! Up at 0700, well not quite. Apparently, ( as to be expected!) they are half an hour behind here in SA! ( more like 50yrs in my opinion!) so we are up an attem at 0630. No prob, just get on the road quicker. All good.
Girls can’t pass up an opportunity to shop, what does Mt Barker have? A 24hr KMart of course, so hour later we are off. Next stop Woomera for the night. Oh boy, dramas! The next blog’ll be a ripper!
Stay tuned for the next installment. I’ll write them as I can, usually while Korks driving as it helps me to relax!
